DBA / Database Administrator (MSSQL/ PostgreSQL/Oracle)

Due to expansion, we are looking for a Database Administrator to join our partner's team in Budapest in a hybrid work arrangement (with 2 days in the office per week) under an employment contract, preferably with experience in MSSQL and PostgreSQL, and a willingness to learn Oracle. You would be working from a service provider perspective for clients serving critical infrastructure.
Tasks
- Daily operation and monitoring of Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and PostgreSQL databases on Linux and Windows Server platforms
- Backup verification, execution of restoration tasks, and testing
- User and permission management, database object management
- Preparation and installation of patches and minor version updates during maintenance windows
- Performance and storage monitoring, basic tuning, identification of slow queries
- Handling incidents, requests, and changes according to ITIL principles, escalation to the senior team when necessary
- Analysis and handling of alerts from monitoring systems
- Automation of repetitive operational tasks using scripts
- Creation and maintenance of up-to-date operational documentation and runbooks
- Performing periodic on-call duties (one week per month, after the probation period)
Requirements
- 2-4+ years of relevant database administration experience
- Confident administration knowledge of at least one database engine (Oracle, MSSQL, or PostgreSQL)
- Intermediate English proficiency
- Practical knowledge of backup and recovery principles and tools
- Basic system administrator knowledge of Linux and / or Windows Server
- Solid SQL knowledge
- Basic scripting skills (Bash or PowerShell)
- Good communication skills, customer-oriented mindset
- Willingness to learn, ability to work independently
