Join Castrol's global pricing team within Global Marketing, where your analysis will help shape pricing for complex customer deals across markets. Working with Sales, Finance, Technology and Supply Chain, you'll turn detailed data into recommendations that balance winning business with protecting profitability.
Tasks
- Build Excel pricing models that bring together product costs, supply and delivery options, competitor information and pricing benchmarks to recommend commercially sound offers.
- Lead the pricing response for customer tenders, working through scenarios and review rounds with local and global Sales teams before proposals go to customers.
- Explain your recommendations and challenge assumptions constructively, influencing decisions through evidence rather than formal authority.
- Design customer price variation formulas using external indices. Test how well they reflect cost movements and model alternatives that help protect margins over the life of a deal.
- Maintain price variation formulas through existing digital tools, monitor pricing performance and identify opportunities to improve margins and provide useful customer insights to Sales.
- Lead or support pricing projects from defining the problem and analytical approach through to stakeholder alignment and delivery.
- Develop and improve pricing processes, methodologies, standards and governance. Help teams apply them consistently across regions and deal types, share your expertise and provide guidance on complex pricing questions.
Requirements
- Advanced Excel and data-modelling skills, with experience building and managing complex models and analysing large datasets to support decisions.
- Strong analytical problem-solving and commercial judgement. You can weigh conflicting inputs, test assumptions and explain the trade-offs behind a recommendation.
- Evidence of influencing stakeholders across functions, including situations where you needed to challenge a view without having formal decision-making authority.
- Clear written and verbal communication in fluent English, with the ability to make detailed analysis understandable to non-specialist audiences.
- A proactive, collaborative approach, strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise competing deadlines and take responsibility for delivery.
- A university degree or higher qualification.
- Experience in data analytics, data modelling, data science or analytical commercial work. Previous deal-desk, commercial pricing, tender or index-based pricing experience is welcome, but not essential if you bring strong analytical capability.
